In Copenhagen, a whole day of activities will be dedicated to celebrating fish. Local seafood will be available and fishermen are invited to bring their boats into the city and make them available to the public to tour.

The Seafood Summit is an annual event bringing together global representatives from the seafood industry and conservation community for in-depth discussions, presentations and networking around the issue of sustainable seafood. The goal of the Summit is to foster dialogue and partnerships that lead to a seafood marketplace that is environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The theme of the Summit is "Evolving solutions for new horizons," with issues ranging from food security and keystone species, including sharks, tuna, and salmon, to supply chain traceability issues; Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing; artisanal fisheries, and social capital.

The seminar will take place between 12.30–17.30 at the Embassy of Finland, Gärdesgatan 9-11, Stockholm. This will mark the 10th anniversary Baltic Sea Seminar, and is part of the week-long Baltic Sea Festival.

• WWF Baltic Sea Scorecard 2011

The first BALTFISH meeting to take place under the Estonian Presidency will feature a discussion on the implementation of a discard ban in the Baltic, in which there will be participation from fishermen's representatives and experts from national administrations. During the afternoon, 2013 TAC and quota discussions will take place, along with the proposed multispecies plan for cod and the pelagic stocks. The meeting will begin at 10.00 on 28 August, with the closed high-level group meeting taking place on 29 August.

This breakfast dialogue on the importance of forage fish for the health of marine environments and dependent communities will take place on Thursday July 12th, between 08.00 – 09.30 in the EP Members Salon, European Parliament, Brussels. Globally, forage fish are more valuable in the water than in the net: the supportive value of forage fish left in the water as food for commercially valuable predators is $11.3 billion globally, compared to a direct value of $5.6 billion. Forage fish populations are highly variable and are vulnerable to overfishing. The breakfast will be introduced by Anna Rosbach (ERC, DK) followed by a presentation from Dr. Ellen K. Pikitch on the fundamental role played by forage fish in our marine ecosystems in ensuring the health of both the marine environment and dependent communities by converting energy into food for larger fish, marine mammals, and seabirds. The vote on the Gróbarczyk (ECR, PL) report on the multiannual plan for the Baltic salmon stock and the fisheries exploiting that stock will take place, and the draft report will be adopted by the committee. For the CFP reform, the report by Nikolaos Salavrakos (EFD, GR) on the Overarching Communciation will be voted on by the committee. An exchange of views on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) will also take place. The rapporteur is Alain Cadec (EPP, FR). While, the vote on compromise amendments to the Lövin (Greens/EFA, SE) report on the CFP external dimension has been delayed and will take place later in the year.
