European Parliament first meeting of the combined portfolio of Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The PECH and the ENVI committee will jointly hear Karmenu Vella, the Commissioner-designate for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, on 29 September in Brussels.
The hearing begins with a short speech of the Commissioner-designate outlining the main priorities in his prospective portfolio and the initiatives he considers putting forward during his mandate. Following his introductory remarks, Mr Vella will reply to questions from Members. The committee evaluates the Commissioner-designate after the meeting and sends its evaluation to the Conference of Committee Chairs.
