MSFD D2 workshop

Location: Ispra, Italy

Dates: 10 - 11 September 2015

JRC are hosting a phase 2 workshop on Descriptor 2 to provide some specific recommendations on the outstanding issues identified during cover outstanding issues identified during phase 1 of the review process.

Registration and logistics: The workshops will be held at JRC - Ispra, Italy - registration is mandatory.

To have access to the JRC’s event module you have to use your ECAS credentials (or signing-in, if you don’t have an ECAS password) and then you will automatically redirect to the events page. Look for the “MSFD NON INDIGENOUS SPECIES WORKSHOPS (D2)” workshop page to complete you registration. Deadline for submission of applications for the workshop: 7 August 2015.

Seminar on ecosystem based fisheries management

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

One of the central objectives of the EU Common Fisheries Policy is to implement the ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management. SwAM will commence development of a strategy for how this can happen in Sweden and has initiated a pilot project in the 8-fjordar area of Västra Götaland. But what does ecosystem based fisheries management (EBFM) mean and how can in work in practice? SwAM will host a seminar with Prof. Craig Johnson from University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia, on 7 September 2015 focusing on this topic and showcasing how  EBFM has been applied in Tasmania. The seminar will be followed by a workshop examining how EBFM could be defined and implemented in Sweden.

A live internet broadcast of the seminar will be available and open to all.

BALTFISH Forum
