The fishing sector, NGOs, national administrations, EU institutions and interested members of the public are invited by the Commission to participate in a discussion on the status of European fish stocks and on corresponding appropriate management measures to be undertaken.
The proposed discard ban and its implementation in the Baltic Sea will be the focus of the meeting along with the proposed long-term multi-species management plan. The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Copenhagen, Slotsholmsgade 12, 1216 Copenhagen K, meeting room B, between 11-17.

The informal Council will focus on agricultural issues and the CAP reform, and will include several visits to archaeological sites in Cyprus as well as areas affected by climate change.
In Copenhagen, a whole day of activities will be dedicated to celebrating fish. Local seafood will be available and fishermen are invited to bring their boats into the city and make them available to the public to tour.
The roundtable discussion has been organised by the Mediterranean Platform of Artisanal Fishers (MedArtNet), and will take place on September 18 between 1130-1300 in the European Parliament (room ASP 5F385). It will be introduced by the chair of the Fisheries Committee (PECH) Gabriel Mato Androver (EPP, ES).
