Parsêta River Clean-Up 2008

Published on May 12, 2008

On May 10, 2008, FISH was invited to the Parsêta River Clean-Up 2008 event in Zabrowie near the coastal city of Kolobrzeg. Parsêta River flows into the Baltic Sea and is one of the most important habitats for salmon in Poland.

The river clean up was arranged as a part of the Agreement for Parsêta, which is a group led by the NGO Klub Gaja, one of FISH partners in Poland, along with a local car paint company named Troton. The event is slowly becoming an annual tradition to ensure the health of the Parsêta River ecosystem, an important spawning ground for the Baltic salmon.

The event is a very positive example of a private initiative, which works to increase social responsibility for the environment in Poland. People from the Goœcino and Dygowo county, Troton employees, youth, anglers, and local authorities took part in cleaning up the river and the riparian zone. The event was finalised with a concert and barbeque.
