Seminar on ecosystem based fisheries management

One of the central objectives of the EU Common Fisheries Policy is to implement the ecosystem-based approach to fisheries management. SwAM will commence development of a strategy for how this can happen in Sweden and has initiated a pilot project in the 8-fjordar area of Västra Götaland. But what does ecosystem based fisheries management (EBFM) mean and how can in work in practice? SwAM will host a seminar with Prof. Craig Johnson from University of Tasmania in Hobart, Australia, on 7 September 2015 focusing on this topic and showcasing how  EBFM has been applied in Tasmania. The seminar will be followed by a workshop examining how EBFM could be defined and implemented in Sweden.

A live internet broadcast of the seminar will be available and open to all.
