Demonstration of IEA for Baltic fish stocks

Demonstration of the feasibility of integrated ecosystem assessment and advice for Baltic Sea fish stocks.

The Baltic Sea Center writes:
“The goal of this workshop is to develop and evaluate an integrated advice for the three main commercial fish stocks in the Baltic Sea, i.e. cod, herring and sprat. The approach that we will take will follow the Integrated Ecosystem Assessment (IEA) framework and is based on efforts of the “ICES/HELCOM Working Group on Integrated Assessments of the Baltic Sea” (WGIAB) summarized by Möllmann et al (2013). Eventually our goal is to demonstrate ways towards the inclusion of multi-species interactions, environmental conditions, bio-economic considerations and projections of the Baltic Sea future into an ecosystem-based fish stock advice and management.”

The workshop will take place at  Askölaboratoriet between 25th and 29th of August.
