The Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries (STECF) was established in 1993. It has 34 members, nominated by the Commission for a 3-year mandate that can be renewed.
The current list was adopted in the autumn of 2010.
Besides specialists in marine and fisheries biology/ecology, STECF also contains experts in fishing gear technology and fishery economics.
The Committee produces an annual report on the situation as regards fisheries resources and on developments in fishing activities. It also reports on the economic implications of the fishery resources situation
