EU fisheries decision making guide

24/06/2009

European fisheries policy is an exclusive competence of the EU. This means that all decisions are taken at the EU level and Member States cannot intervene in fisheries management unless they are explicitly delegated back the powers to do so. The entire EU Common Fisheries Policy consists of a confusing number of regulations covering everything from resource management and subsidies to the sector, to market rules and trade tariffs. This guide is produced by IEEP for the Fisheries Secretariat.
