The Commission shall perform its functions in the interests of the conservation and optimum utilisation of the fishery resources in the Convention Area and shall take into account the best scientific evidence available to it. The Commission recommends annually management measures with respect to stocks that straddle in the NEAFC Regulatory Area. The Commission has established two Schemes for Control and Enforcement and Contracting Parties make considerable resources available for NEAFC inspectors and NEAFC inspection platforms.
