The second of two public hearings on CFP reform that the Committee on Fisheries of the European Parliament is organizing under the Presidency of MEP Fraga-Estévez.

The first, "The CFP reform : resource conservation and fleet management", was held on March 16.

DG MARE/Spanish Presidency seminar on CMO reform, Madrid

Wed 14 April

The seminar will be focused on the issues of communication and promotion of fisheries and aquaculture products. After a presentation of the communication in the agri-food sector in general, the specifities of seafood products will be analysed as regards image, perception, nutritional content and durability. In the afternoon, there will be a presentation of different initiatives from different stakeholders, ranging from producers to retailers and including interbranch organisations.


DG MARE/Spanish Presidency seminar on CMO reform, Madrid

Thu 15 April

This seminar will discuss the supply of the European market for seafood. After a description of the current situation in termes of production and imports, the conditions of access to the European market and the impact on imports on the profitability of the European fisheries and aquaculture sector will be analysed.

Eel seminar, Åhus, Sweden

The aim of the seminar it to get an overview of the situation for eel and to look at what a can be done to promote the well-being of eel in the future. The seminar is aimed at administrators, biologists, NGOs, media, fisheries organisations, eel farmers, and anyone else with an interest in eel.

The seminar will be held in Swedish.

A meeting between NGOs and the small-scale sector to find common ground. It is being organised primarily by the Spanish stakeholders but with support from OCEAN2012 staff and ICSF.
