HELCOM Secretariat appoints new Professional Secretary

The current Professional Secretary at the HELCOM Secretariat, Mikhail Durkin will as of today step down from his position after serving the secretariat for over six and a half years.

Mikhail Durkin has served as a Professional Secretary at the HELCOM Secretariat since 2008, where he has been engaged within the Land-based pollution group (LAND) as well within the platforms; HELCOM Agriculture and Environment Forum (AGRI/ENV FORUM) set up to enhance dialogue between agricultural and environmental authorities and the HELCOM Fisheries and Environment Forum (FISH/ENV FORUM) which serves as a platform for dialogue between fisheries and environmental authorities.

Mr Durkin today will today hand over his position as Professional Secretary to Mr. Dmitry Frank-Kamenetsky, originally from Russia, who will take over the work as secretary for the LAND group, AGRI/ENVI- and FISH/ENV Forum. Frank-Kamenetsky will furthermore be  engaged within the LOAD Expert group. Prior to joining the HELCOM Secretariat, Frank-Kamenetsky served as Head of Division for the State Regulation in the Field of Environmental Protection, Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety, City of St. Petersburg.
